Atlantic Media Prez John Galloway to Step Down

In a personal email today, David Bradley delivered news that Atlantic Media President John Galloway will be leaving his post to "reset his career in some, new field likely closer to his new home."

From Bradley's email:

About two months ago, my colleague of 14 years, John Galloway, told me that he thought it was approaching time for him to move along. He will be with us months still, but already I sense missing him.

Bradley's full email after the jump.

My Colleagues Across the Firm,

About two months ago, my colleague of 14 years, John Galloway, told me that he thought it was approaching time for him to move along. He will be with us months still, but already I sense missing him.

As to John, he began a year ago to contemplate moving his family to Pennsylvania. At first, planning to be a weekend commuter, John thought he would continue as President of Atlantic Media here. But, more recently, he decided it was time to reset his career in some, new field likely closer to his new home. This comes as nothing but disappointment to me; I have loved working with John over the years.

As to those of here, John has left us in hugely-better shape for his leadership. John has accomplished the tricky task of merging three separate cultures (National Journal, Government Executive and The Atlantic) into one company - no easy matter. He has led the all but doubling of the company across his tenure. And, he has recruited an exceptional next-generation of executives to continue on.

Those of us who have worked with John closely will find a time to toast and celebrate him. Still, we may not want to begin the tearful farewell now; John will be with us through the summer and helping out through a long transition thereafter.

So, to all of you, my colleagues, I bring this unmistakably-sad news. But, I also bring the continuing joy and cheer of leading this enterprise.

David
