Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive has hired Jonathan Krim, a technology reporter at the Post, to be its new director of strategic initiatives.

A four-and-a-half year veteran of the tech beat, Krim was formerly the executive editor of TheStreet.com, the financial news and commentary website. Prior to that, Krim came from Silicon Valley's own San Jose Mercury News, where he was senior editor--and coverage that he guided won Pulitzer prizes in 1986 and 1990.

"Jonathan brings a unique combination of entrepreneurial savvy, journalistic background and web experience that matches well with our plans for growth," said WPNI CEO Caroline Little. "He'll be a great asset to the company."

According to WPNI, his first assignment will be to help the company grow its online local audience through editorial and commercial initiatives.

"This is a wonderful challenge and opportunity," Krim said. "I can't wait to get started working with the great talent across the Post company's divisions and properties, to help us serve and excite more readers and advertisers."
