Election results out today from the White House Correspondents Association and ABC's Ann Compton won by a landslide--perhaps not surprising given that she's widely thought to be the nicest person ever to work in the West Wing press room. She took 94 out of the 139 ballots.

In the strange way that the WHCA elections work, Compton will serve as the organization's president in 2007-2008 after being successfully elected to both the board and the presidency.

In other election results, Reuters' Steve Holland won appointment to a 2-year term on the board (filling the vacancy caused by the WP's Mike Allen's resignation), the NYT's Doug Mills won the photo seat and Ed Chen of the LAT won the newspaper seat. No word, though, on who the eight people are in the press corps who think that Chen is the spawn of the devil.
