Karma done bit Joe Francis on his child-grinding ass. In the first such court case of its kind, Francis and his Girls Gone Wild companies, including Santa Monica-based Mantra Films Inc., pleaded guilty to violating a federal law that prevents the sexual exploitation of children.

The companies agreed to pay $2.1 million in fines and restitution. Of that, $500,000 is coming out of Francis' pocket -- the pocket he keeps his wallet in. The feds won't let him pay his fine in roofies.

According to the LAT:

Mantra Films Inc. of Santa Monica pleaded guilty to charges that it failed to create and maintain age and identity documents for performers in sexually explicit films that it produced and distributed. The company also failed to label its DVDs and videotapes as required by federal law, the Justice Department said.

Or, as Gawker put it: Rich Scumbag $500,000 Less Rich; Still As Much of A Scumbag.
