Math Club, the ingenious social group for eclectic geniuses, hosted its holiday party at the Mandrake last night, and Kate and Mayrav sneaked out of the fishbowl long enough to hobnob with people who are waaay smarter than they are.
The brain child of Roni Brunn, a Harvard-educated math chick-turned-rock-star, Math Club groups together anybody who likes math. There were the requisite engineers and math profs, but the club is also host to "Simpsons" and "Futurama" writers.
Last night's party included former "Robot Chicken" scribe Chuck Horn (pictured here)
who has an engineering PhD from a little school called Princeton and tells FBLA that his mother has started taking her head out of the oven long enough to accept his calls. The fact that he's working on a short-form sketch comedy pilot for HBO probably helps. But only a little.
The party also drew a social worker (woman with back to the camera), Wholesome Pictures president (and Harvard alumnae) Danielle Parsons and an opera singer (tall fella in the back with the spectacles). And, yes, they did talk about math. And, no, we can't relay the conversation here because we really didn't understand any of it.
