Agustin Gurza Says Ask Him About Ask a Mexican, but Few Do
Agustin Gurza takes some swipes at Gustavo Arellano in the LA Times, First, he compares him to Paris Hilton, then Don Imus, and then trots out the canard that his Ask a Mexican column encourages racism. He must have been fuming about this for a while, and now that Arellano's book is out, he let loose. And then he promotes himself: I have reluctantly become the Anti-Mexican, a go-to guy for reporters seeking a dissenting voice to balance the chorus of praise that otherwise packs profiles of my colleague. Right you are if you think so. Gurza's been quoted on this subject in OC Register, 5-01-07 Tu Ciudad April 2007 Two quotes a "go-to guy" do not make. Daniel Hernandez did a LAT Column One on Arellano in Feb.2006--Gurza's neither quoted nor mentioned. Maybe he was too busy. Email This Post |
