John Montorio announced to the ranks of the LA Times that Mary Kaye Schilling, one-time former editor of Entertainment Weekly, is coming in as editor of Calendar Weekend in February.

She's a former editor of Sassy, which makes her an automatically cool chick. Seriously, does the upper management realize how significant that magazine was?

The LA Times had been searching for a while, as the paper plans to relaunch Weekend, along with its companion website, calendarlive.com, often considered to be dismal.

Schilling will be coming to from Australia, where she is currently a top editor at Who magazine for Time Warner. Thus, we can infer, she loves photos of celebrities looking goofy and/or drunk. We hope so, anyway.
