An internet discussion group called 'The Ultimate Brokeback Forum' bought space for this full-page ad in today's national edition of Variety thanking the makers, cast, and crew of 'Brokeback Mountain' (as well as Jack and Ennis) for "transforming countless lives."

That's sweet, I guess. Of course, one could argue that it's not really necessary to express gratitude towards a for-profit business endeavor like 'Brokeback Mountain' (or any other movie). I mean, isn't buying a ticket enough of a 'thank you?'

Anyway, we keep trying to stop posting about 'Brokeback' but as a cultural phenomenon it just goes on and on. God help us when the DVD comes out.
