Potter Breaks Bond Record
Harry Potter used his magic skills to generate billions in box-office receipts - to the tune of $4.47 billion worldwide - making it the most lucrative film franchise of all time. Warner Bros. announced the record-breaking Potter news Monday, reported today in THR. What's stellar about the record is that the studio still has two Potter pics yet to come.

Bosworth in Book Adaptation
Kate Bosworth has signed on for the title role in Veronika Decides to Die, a film adaptation based on Paulo Coelho's best-selling book of the same name. THR reports out of Toronto that Bosworth will star in the pic, to be directed by Emily Young and written by Larry Gross.

Kennedy Center Announces Honorees
Diana Ross, Brian Wilson, Leon Fleisher, Steve Martin and Martin Scorsese have been tapped as recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors. The fete, scheduled for Dec. 2 and airing on CBS, is the 30th annual edition of the star-studded awards gala.

Variety takes its critical eye to film festival pics Lars and the Real Girl starring Ryan Gosling and Julie Taymor's Across the Universe. Lars - a look inside a small town where a young man introduces a sex doll as his girlfriend - is described as a "gentle comic drama" that will likely have a more successful ancillary life, while Universe is "hard to dislike but hard to take seriously."
