Animal Services Ed Bok Advises Reverence for Life as Racoons Attack Pets
As we mentioned, LA City Nerd is taking nominations--one of the awards will go to best LA City Department Head. Here's our vote for the worst: There's a whole slew of reasons why Bok's such a loser, but here's the latest from the International Herald Tribune about racoons terrorizing pets in Los Angeles. Bok said: "What we're trying to inculcate in the L.A. community is a reverence for life. If we have more reverence for life, it translates into all our programs--for women and infants, the elderly and everybody in our community," said Ed Boks, the head of Los Angeles Animal Services. No little old lady tore the head off our turtle. No unruly toddler attacked Larna Hartnack's dog in Venice. Boks has a zillion reasons why he and his department chose to do nothing about the racoons in Venice and the exploding coyote population in the Hollywood Hills, and no doubt they all have to do with reverence for all life. And that it's easier and cheaper to do nothing. The no-kill policy must have be extended to no-exertion-of-any-kind. Boks has been good at blogging, but some are wondering what else he's done--and why he even got the job. Email This Post |
