Rick Dees--What All The Young Folks Want
It's the boot-scoot boogie for country music fans over at KZLA. Mike Schneider, who has a perfectly good day job at Variety, has posted on his Franklin Avenue blog that KZLA is dumping the country music format and bringing in dance and Rick Dees. So, The Most Listened To Counry Station now becomes Movin' 93.9, which has a really cool mid-80s vibe. And such a savvy programming move, too, according to Schneider: The format change was sudden, and quite jarring to listeners. KZLA simply played the Keith Urban song Tonight I Wanna Cry at 10:18 a.m., followed by the Black Eyed Peas' Let's Get It Started at 10:25 a.m. So who's cooler? Keith Urban who just married Nicole Kidman or Rick "Crusty the Clown" Dees? Email This Post |
