'Wedding Crashers' Reloaded: Warner Bros. pays $1.25 M for Dobkin-directed pitchEXCLUSIVE: You heard it here first: Fishbowl L.A. has learned that "Wedding Crashers" director David Dobkin has just set up his new project at Warner Bros. Pictures. The mega-sale reunites Dobkin with his fellow "Crashers" producer, Andrew Panay on a pitch for which the studio has paid a hefty $1.25 million. Dobkin will both direct and also produce with Panay. Currently untitled, the pricey pitch came from the screenwriting team of Tim Rasmussen and Vince Di Meglio a pair of relatively unknown guys, until last year anyway. The duo made their bones with a rewrite of "Meet the Fockers" for Universal a year ago which got the Ben Stiller sequel into ship (or at least land-yacht) shape. Like "Fockers" Dobkin's latest project will explore a father's disappointment with his daughter's choice of potential mates: Plot is being kept hushed up, but we can tell you this much: It's about a Southern guy dad whose three daughters return home for Thanksgiving with new boyfriends in tow: An Arab, a Jew and, of course, a black guy. No, really. (Above: "Father, I know she's a godless infidel, but... I love her!") Sounds subtle, right? It's very "Don't Be A Martyr to My Daughters While Drinking Your 40 Ounce at the Western Wall, You Hood!" Anyway, at least the comission goes to United Talent Ageny, which recently lost Dobkin after he and his agent Dan Aloni defected to Creative Artists Agency last week - a move that was also first reported here. (Pictured above: Creative Artists Agency, "fully operational") Stay tuned! And Hag Sameach, homies! Email This Post |
