Magazine Cover of the Week: New York Times Magazine’s ‘Rose-Colored’ Look at Detroit

13cover_type-blog480

As we head into the weekend, it’s time to gather up your reading list…everything you saw this week but didn’t have time to actually read.

In this Sunday’s New York Times Magazine is “The Post-Post-Apocalyptic Detroit” by Ben Austen. In it, he explores a city that once was and the opportunity it now has as Quicken Loans chairman Dan Gilbert in just a few years has purchased nine million square feet of real estate in 60 Detroit buildings.

Check it out, online now, or in print this Sunday.

NBC’s Brian Williams on DC Baby Boom

Nine months ago was the government shutdown. Sibley Memorial Hospital is now reporting live births are up about three per day. And NBC’s Brian Williams nailed it.

“How long until someone on television points out that during the shutdown the folks in Washington are apparently doing at home what Washington has been accused of doing to the American people,” Williams said. “We’re guessing someone will say that on television before long.”

CNN’s S.E. Cupp Being Considered to Join ‘The View’

admin-ajax.php

One of Washington’s most probable contenders is being considered by “The View” to potentially join the program, according to an industry insider.

S.E. Cupp, a regular face on CNN’s relaunch of “Crossfire,” has been approached by “View” executives.

On Monday, Meghan McCain – a conservative pundit and daughter of former presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain – will guest co-host the program, the network confirmed yesterday. McCain and Cupp are likely being considered to fill the conservative co-host role of Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who departed the program in 2013. Our gut tells us that next to Rosie, Cupp will be better at holding her own compared to McCain.

Also slated to guest co-host next week: WGN’s Ana Belaval and ABC News’ Sara Haines.

Only time will tell…
