A New Role For Roll Call’s Niels Lesniewski

Things are looking up for Niels Lesniewski. Thought to be among the smartest minds on Congress, he has even been referred to as a “young David Hawkings.” Lesniewski (pronounced Neels Les-new-ski) is joining Roll Call‘s leadership team as a Senate reporter. He moves from CQ Roll Call, where he has been covering the Senate for their Legislative Action operation.

See the internal memo…in which Roll Call Editor Scott Montgomery begins with a phrase that is an absolute no-no to news reporters: “I know this note isn’t breaking any news…” WHAT?!

I know this note isn’t breaking any news, but I didn’t want to let the moment pass without formally announcing the Niels Lesniewski has joined Roll Call’s leadership team as a Senate reporter. Since 2009, Niels has been CQ Roll Call’s authoritative source on the Senate as part of our Legislative Action operation. He knows the upper chamber better than most anyone and we’re very glad to have his expertise and bright writing now appearing in the web and print pages of Roll Call.

Please join me in congratulating Niels in his new role.
