AMC Hosts Red Carpet Premiere for “TURN”

20140324_212728Last night, at the National Archives, AMC hosted a red carpet premiere for “TURN,” its new series chronicling Washington’s earliest spies.

The evening featured a cocktail party both before and after the screening and a Q&A hosted by ABC News Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz with “TURN” Executive Producer Craig Silverstein; Jamie Bell, who plays Abraham Woodhull; former Director of the CIA Michael Hayden; Executive Producer Barry Josephson; and author Alexander Rose.

Based on Rose’s book Washington’s Spies, “TURN” tells the story of America’s first spy ring. A historical thriller set during the Revolutionary War, the series centers on Abe Woodhull, a farmer living in British-occupied Long Island who bands together with his childhood friends to form the Culper Ring – a team of secret agents who went on to help George Washington turn the tide of the war and gave birth to modern spycraft.

“You know about Benedict Arnold. You know about Nathan Hale. There’s an absolute iron rule of espionage,” said Johnson during the post-screening Q&A. “You know about the spies who failed. You don’t know about all the spies who succeeded. And that’s why the Culper group remained so secretive, so long.”

TURN premiers on AMC on Sunday, April 6 at 9pm. In the meantime, check out the series trailer.
