Another Pulitzer Winner…Gone?!?

A tipster tells us that Tamara Jones, a features writer in Style, was telling people at yesterday’s Pulitzer party that she is taking the buyout. She is part of the team that won the breaking news award for Va Tech.

Slate’s Jack Shafer says “Two Cheers for Newsroom Buyouts.”

>UPDATE: Confirmed. Jones tell us, “I turned 50 in November, and have been at the Post for 14 ridiculously happy years. It’s a very generous offer, and I’ve been itching to do a cannonball off the high-dive for awhile now. This puts water in the pool. I’ve got some book and magazine work lined up, and then I’m hoping to explore some corners of the communications biz I’ve always been intrigued by, like crisis-management PR or working for a humanitarian organization or non-profit. I also bake the world’s best brownies, so maybe I can run those obnoxious cupcake girls in G’town out of town.”
