AP Names Judy Miller National Editor

apjudymiller.jpgNo, not that one. In the department of unfortunate names, Judy “Not entangled” Miller, the Miami Herald’s managing editor, has been named the AP’s new national editor.

Based in New York, Miller will oversee the wire’s coast-to-coast coverage, as well as work with the AP’s specialized teams covering issues like health and science.

At the Herald, Miller has supervised coverage that led to two Pulitzer Prizes and worked with a team that won a 1993 Pulitzer for the paper’s Hurricane Andrew coverage. In 2001 the paper won for its Elian Gonzalez coverage, and uncovering widespread voter fraud in a 1999 mayoral election led to another.
