Congrats to Andrew Cohen, contributing editor of The Atlantic, for winning the 2013 American Gavel Award for Distinguished Reporting About the Judiciary.
This award is an honor given by the American Judges Association. Cohen was selected after being nominated by two federal judges: Pennsylvania district court judge John Jones, who praised Andrew for his “incisive and pellucid work,” and Colorado district court judge John Kane, who wrote of Cohen, “He has the enviable ability to make often complex issues understandable to those without legal training. He is clearly not a shill for the legal establishment, but rather writes and broadcasts with a compass pointing towards truth and clarity.” That’s pretty high praise, coming from judges.
