Bloomberg Hires Obama Aide to Step Up D.C. Exposure

Bloomberg L.P. today announced that Meridith Webster, a senior-level aide in the Obama Administration, joins the company as Director of Communications and Public Affairs. Her new position on Bloomberg’s senior communications team is intended to increase Bloomberg’s exposure in Washington, New York and globally.

Webster arrives to the company from the White House, where she was Senior Adviser to Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and to interim Chief of Staff Pete Rouse. Her current lengthy title is: Deputy Director of Government Reform for Competitiveness and Innovation in the Office of Management & Budget.

Webster’s ties to the Obama Administration run deep. She was Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. UN Ambassador Susan Rice after working on the Obama-Biden Presidential Transition Team’s national security and energy and environment policy working groups.

At her new post, she will report to Rick Powell, Chief Communications Officer for Bloomberg L.P. and also work closely with Kevin Sheekey, Global Head of Communications and Government Relations and Chairman of Bloomberg Government.

More noteworthy details… Webster took Sarah Feinberg’s place at the White House when Feinberg went to Bloomberg. Then Feinberg went to Facebook.  And now Webster is taking her spot at Bloomberg.  Guess Webster will go to Facebook when Feinberg moves on again.
