TNT’s Final ‘Christmas in Washington’ Special Tomorrow

Screen Shot 2014-12-18 at 3.19.39 PM

Taped Sunday evening, TNT’s broadcast of ”Christmas in Washington” airing at 8 PM ET tomorrow will be its last – at least for the time being.

The 33-year-old special, hosted this year by my fellow Miami Hurricane, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, will have to find a new home after the network’s parent company, Time Warner, decided on Monday that it will no longer sponsor the special.

This year’s “Christmas in Washington,” taped at the National Building Museum, was headlined by holiday-themed performances from Rita Ora, Darius Rucker, Hunter Hayes, Christina Perri and Aloe Blacc, as well as the traditional group carol sing-a-long with President Barack Obama, the first lady and daughters Malia and Sasha.

Dick Cheney Scheduled For Meet the Press

Meet the Press with Chuck ToddAfter describing the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report on torture as “full of crap” on Special Report with Bret Baier last evening, former VP and Emperor Palpatine impersonator, Dick Cheney, is scheduled to appear on Meet the Press with Chuck Todd this Sunday — most likely to spread some holiday cheer.

Although the former Vice President told Baier that he “hadn’t read it,” Cheney shamelessly defends the torture program, comparing it to the Iran-Contra affair (another proud moment in the history of US foreign policy…).

Discussing the imprisonment and torture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the Sith Lord stated, “He is in our possession, we know he’s the architect, what are we supposed to do? Kiss him on both cheeks?”

Tis the season!

Obama Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree

Screen Shot 2014-12-05 at 10.11.56 AMThe annual tradition continued last night with the lighting of the National Christmas Tree, however, this year, President Barack Obama busted out some moves with Santa.

With thumbs up and some awkward swaying action, the President and Santa seemed to have needed some eggnog to loosen up. But to be fair, they were dancing to “Jingle Bells”…

We’ll be back on the 26th! Till then -Merry Christmas Y’all!

All We Want For Christmas Is…?

Let’s face it, most of you are getting coal for Christmas this year -we know we are. But we asked a bunch of local journos and politicos to pretend they weren’t so naughty this year, and tell us what they’re asking Santa for for Christmas. Here are the responses we have so far. We’ll update them as we get more!

CapFile‘s Elizabeth Thorp: “For schools not to close when there’s a micro-dusting of snow, a ticket to the Vanity Fair WHCD party and a speaking role on ‘House of Cards’ Season 3 as the ruthless but brilliant editor of Capitol File.”

TWT‘s John Solomon: “We’ve been working on this new website night and day for the last six weeks, all I want is a solid 8 hours of sleep on Christmas Eve.”

Ron Bonjean: “Hoping for waist band pants from all the Christmas goodies. Also a PS4 or Xbox One is there are any left. And a comprehensive energy policy for today’s America.”

Sara Bonjean: “A strong national defense.”

Politico‘s Patrick Gavin: “I’d take an entry into the 2014 Boston Marathon, the most difficult ticket around.”

Roll Call‘s Abby Livingston: “A new Chi hair straightener. My old one was already on its last leg when it exploded in-use in the Roll Call bathroom as I was getting ready to go out after work in September. Smoke and everything. It’s been a rough – and wavy – autumn for this reporter.”

WJLA’s Kris Van Cleave: “Noise cancelling earbuds, dinner with some of my good friends, and a pony.”

Good Deeds

jocelyngeoffHere at FishbowlDC we’re getting in the holiday spirit by promoting the DC media community’s good deeds.

First up is in an event hosted by Jocelyn Quinn (daughter of powerhouse politico couple Jack and Susanna Quinn) and Chef Geoff Tracy (Mr. Norah O’Donnell) to raise money for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, which aims to eliminate childhood hunger in America.

The pair of do-gooders is hosting a bake sale outside of Chef Geoff’s upper Georgetown restaurant on Sunday, December 22nd, where Jocelyn will sell home made baked goods and hot chocolate. On top of that, Chef Geoff’s will donate $1 for every desert that is sold to No Kids Hungry. Their goal is to raise $14,000, which is enough to connect kids with 140,000 meals. If you’re in the area, come out and support the cause! You can also donate here.

WHAT: Bake Sale to Support No Kids Hungry Campaign

WHO: Jocelyn Quinn and Chef Geoff Tracy

WHERE: Outside Chef Geoff’s, 3201 New Mexico Ave, Washington, DC
