BillPlante

As if there wasn’t enough going on in DC last night (the Congressional Women’s Softball Game, 826DC’s ‘How to Make it in This Town’ convo with CNN’s Jake Tapper and NYTimesMark Leibovich, and the Big Money book party for POLITICO’s Ken Vogel) CBS News hosted a party to celebrate White House Correspondent Bill Plante’s 50 year career at the network.

Friends and colleagues gathered at Jose Andres’ Oyamel to fete Plante, a known foodie and wine connoisseur. Highlight (for him): He was gifted with a rare 1964 Chateau Pichon Baron-Pauillac.

Guests included CBS News President David Rhodes, Chairman Jeff Fager and Washington Bureau Chief Chris Isham. as well as Nancy Cordes, Major Garrett, Bob Orr, Chip Reid, and Julianna Goldman.

DC Magazine Celebrates Annual Nightlife Issue with Summer Soiree

20140617_194702Tuesday night at Frye in Georgetown, DC Magazine hosted a party in celebration of its annual nightlife issue. In the Modern Luxury June issue are “20 Unique Ways to Spend Your Summer Nights,” including Jay-Z and Beyonce’s On The Run tour stop in Baltimore on July 7, the summer ready U Street Penthouse Pool and Lounge, and the annual Citi Open.

The evening also featured a lucky recipient of Frye boots – Ballston BID’s Allie Krafft - chosen alongside DC senior editor Katie Bianco.

“Allie was super cute and fashionable, and she ended up picking a pair of boots I had already been drooling over earlier in the evening!” said Bianco. “I love the sexy zipper that goes up the back of the boot, but the style is also classic. She’ll be able to wear them for years.”

Hipster Republican is the New Pajama Boy

When will political ad-makers learn?? JUST SAY NO TO DUDES IN GLASSES!!!

John Oliver and Co. take a pretty good whack at the new youth-oriented Republican ad blitz. Take a look, Democrats. It will make you feel better about your own embarrassing outreach efforts.

The event also featured Zentan’s Executive Chef Jennifer Nguyen, a contestant on Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay.

The first “Women Rule” event is scheduled for late March in DC – more details are expected soon. The series will also host events in New York City and San Francisco this year, capping off with an end-of-year conference in Washington.

(Not So) Happy Hour

A look at the URL for this video suggests that whoever put it up had a different story in mind when she started than the one she ended up running. Either that, or events on the ground escalated really quickly…
