Separated at Birth

Separated at Birth: Pete Williams

Yes, yes, we get it. NBC’s Pete Williams is a God of News. Throughout last week’s manhunt for the bombers of the Boston Marathon, Williams seemed to be among the few trusted journalists in America. While many outlets got the story wrong, Williams remained steady.

With Williams getting SO much airtime, we realized that he looked eerily similar to HuffPost’s Howard Fineman, who is also often seen on MSNBC. Upon further examination, both men could also pass for Mrs. Doubtfire.

Separated at Birth: NBC’s Savannah Guthrie

Today we mix and match NBC “TODAY Show” host Savannah Guthrie and Lifetime TV’s newest “Army Wives” character Maggie Hall played by actress Torrey Devitto.

Separated at Birth: Politico’s Robillard

Sometimes a Separated at Birth goes in wildly different directions. Today is one of those days as we match Politico Pro reporter Kevin Robillard with a younger version of NBC’s Luke Russert and the late Chris Farley.

Separated at Birth: Energy Sec. Nominee Moniz

If his nomination for Energy Secretary is approved, Ernest Moniz will by far be the most uniquely-coiffed member of President Obama‘s cabinet. Never in our wildest dreams could be conjure up this kind of hairdo. If he ever normalizes it, this will be one of the biggest disappointments in FishbowlDC history, so we want to tread carefully. A note to Ernest: No matter how much crap you get about your do — this is Washington after all –  hold fast to your hair, don’t go changing it. If you want to freshen it up, a slight variation on the Quaker Oats cut is fine, but please, nothing drastic.

Which brings us to today’s twins. So many to choose from, but we’re matching Moniz with Mediaite White House Correspondent Tommy Christopher a myriad of other important figures, including Richard Perle (top right) and Tiny Tim (bottom row, right). In some of Moniz’s younger pictures, he apparently made good use of a waffle iron to create showstopping crinkly waves. As FBDC’s Eddie Scarry stated yesterday, the Quaker Oats man works as well. We also think there may be a dash of Robert Blakeman from TV’s “Baretta” in him as pictured in the bottom row at right with Moniz in the middle.

Separated at Birth: The Fix Edition

Dan Senor has been getting a lot of MSNBC facetime since joining them as a contributor. Something about his nerdy look strikes us as AWFULLY familiar on that channel. The similarly baby-faced Chris Cillizza maintains a dominant presence on the network as well. MSNBC might be smart to keep the two of them off of TV at the same time considering we did a double take when we recently saw Senor on Morning Joe. You be the judge.

Separated at Birth: Sen. Al Franken

Today’s pairing is comprised of two big libs: Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and possible D.C. newcomer Ted Kennedy Jr.

Separated at Birth: President Obama

The devil’s in the details on this inevitable pairing today is President Obama and The History Channel’s version of Satan from “The Bible.”

UPDATE: The History Channel has responded to the wealth of voices who have pointed out that their Satan resembles Obama.“HISTORY channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. HISTORY’s ‘The Bible’ is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history.”

From “The Bible” Executive Producers, Mark Burnett & Roma Downey: “This is utter nonsense. The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouzaani, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor.  He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics– including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our President.”

Executive Producer, Downey, added…”Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love our President, who is a fellow Christian.  False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of The Bible.”

Separated at Birth: The Rita Moreno Edition

Actress Rita Moreno has been making the rounds promoting her new memoir, creatively titled Rita Moreno: A Memior. Moreno, who has redefined her style on many occasions, debuted her latest look on MSNBC earlier this week. I watched her segment with the sound off for a solid 90 seconds before I realized that it wasn’t Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA)Here they are, side by side. We think Boxer may want to stick to her hairdo and not try to emulate Moreno’s locks in any serious way.

Separated at Birth: NYT’s David Leonhardt

This morning we’re mixing and matching NYT‘s Washington Bureau Chief David Leonhardt and Take Action News radio host David Shuster. Leonhardt is decidedly more low-key than Shuster, but looks-wise, might be tough to tell one from another in a certain light.

Separated At Birth: CNN’s Piers Morgan

We don’t want to overestimate the effects of sequestration, but CNN’s Piers Morgan has been voted Britain’s third favorite nude celebrity. The survey was conducted by the online game site Wink Bingo.

When was Morgan seen nude? In a 2009 fast food promo, wherein he posed a la former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) wearing only a chunky gold necklace, a rug to cover his English meat and sex appeal fit for a Burger King.

And just this morning singer Justin Bieber snapped a photo of himself lying in a strikingly similar pose. Where was he? London! Bieber reportedly passed out during a concert and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Once he came to, he did what any ignorant 19-year-old dummy would do. Upload an image of his bony body to Instagram.

Today, we pair Morgan and Bieber: British brothers, at least for today.
