CNN’s Dana Bash was reunited with some long lost friends at the Donny and Marie concert on Tuesday night. According to Carl Hulse of The New York Times, the chief congressional correspondent met up with the sibling stars, Donny and Marie Osmond, at the National Theater following the show.

Dana, a lifelong fan of the duo, attended one of their concerts all the way back in 1979 with her brother at the age of 8 (seen in the picture on the left).

Hulse, who happened to be with Dana when she found out she had backstage passes to the event, says that based on her reaction, ”you would have thought the Beatles were back.”

After 35 years, that’s some serious fandom…

CNN’s John King was spotted at the Washington Wizards-Atlanta Hawks game last night. King, a fellow Wiz fan, is one of many recognizable faces from the DC press that are regulars to the Verizon Center, including FOX News’ Bret Baier and CNN’s Wolf Blitzer .

Unfortunately, the Wizards fell to the Hawks 106-102 in somewhat of a sloppy performance.

‘Kissing the Ring’ – Face The Nation’s 60th Anniversary Celebration

105748_0258Bigwig politicians, reporters and DC socialites, all showed up Monday night to the Newsuem in downtown Washington to honor Bob Schieffer and 60 years of exceptional journalism by Face The Nation. In something rarely seen in Washington, the evening began with a moment of agreement and lightheartedness between partisans.

“I’ve had 101 appearances on ‘Face the Nation,’ which exactly matches my age,” joked Senator John McCain, ”The first time I was on, … Bob … and I had an in-depth discussion about the aviation policies of Calvin Coolidge. … I have been on a number of shows. Always I’m reluctant to do so, I’m sure you know. [Laughter.] … I want to thank Mary Hager, who has been with Bob as his producer for all this time. … For a very short statement, I think next is the Vice President. That will be interesting. [Laughter.]”

Hey Isn’t That…

…NBC 4′s Jim Handly having brunch at Mansion on O Street Sunday afternoon? Partaking of a buffet boasting a chocolate fountain and a whole poached salmon, our hometown hero was rocking some sensible khakis and chatting with a distinguished-looking gentleman at a table draped in taffeta.  We can’t confirm, but we hear Handly dipped said salmon into said chocolate fountain.

Gross, Jim Handly, gross.

Hey Isn’t That…

…DC public affairs guy Peter Mirijanian on Bravo’s new trash reality series “Southern Charm?” In episode one, Mirijanian makes a brief cameo to endorse Thomas Ravenel, fallen SC state treasurer who spent time in the clink on federal drug charges. Ravenel is one of the “stars” of the new show.

Hey Isn’t That…?

…every journalist in DC on “House of Cards” ????

FishbowlDC caught up with CNN’s Candy Crowley a few days back to chat a bit about her star turn in “HoC” But she was far from the only DC journo to mix it up with the Underwoods this season. We pinged a few more to see what the experience was like:

Morris Jones, News Channel 8

On being sworn to secrecy: “I’m in two different spoiler scenes and I had to sign a non disclosure agreement.  I guess if I revealed any details before the public release, I might be found floating in the Potomac!”

Scott Thuman, ABC 7

On what question he would ask Frank Underwood: “Easy. Are you looking for a new press guy?”

Julianna Goldman, Bloomberg News

On watching the first season: “The cast was a guest of Bloomberg’s at the White House Correspondents Dinner. I hadn’t seen the show and everyone kept coming up to the actors to talk about the season. So, I binged and basically watched the entire season on a transatlantic flight last summer. I then felt very dark inside.”

Major Garrett, CBS News

On which character he would interview: “President Garrett Walker…My first question: How could you despoil the regal name Garrett with such a weak and vacillating approach to the presidency?”

Hey, Isn’t that…

CNN’s Candy Crowley in this episode of “House of Cards?”

BTW, we asked Candy recently (you know, cuz we’re tight like that) who from the “HOC” cast would she most want to interview in real life, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, she chose Frank Underwood.

“But I would want part of the interview to be a sit-down with him and Claire,” she told FBDC. “I am fascinated by evil people.”

And when asked if she was a fan of the show, she gave us an only-in-Washington reply:

“There are people who aren’t fans?”

Congrats on the cameo Candy! We predict this is the beginning of a promising career in television!
