City Paper’s Back to the Future Time Stamping

Dare to Compare: Is Fenty vs. Gray like Clinton vs. Dole?
Or the other Clinton vs. Obama?

By Mike DeBonis on April 9, 2010

We’ve heard of premature time stamping before at certain Washington publications, but this is really early. Washington City Paper’s Loose Lips section posted the above headline and time stamp two days early. We spotted this post on April 7 at 11:11 p.m.. As you can see, it’s dated April 9.

How could WCP post on day that isn’t here yet? We’re not sure, but as far as we know, it’s still not April 9. We requested comment from Mike DeBonis but did not hear back by FBDC press time.

Update DeBonis really is not to blame. The publication has always been dated for Friday even though it comes out on Thursday. “It’s a hiccup,” DeBonis explained, clearly dismayed by the phenomenon. “It’s an accident of history but that’s the way it is. It’s a historical anomaly. It’s that way, its always been that way and no one has ever changed it.”
