Congressional Reporters: Make Money!

From the National Press Foundation:

    The National Press Foundation is calling for entries for the Everett McKinley Dirksen Awards for Distinguished Reporting of Congress, which carry prizes of $5,000 to the winning print and broadcast journalists. All entries must be received by 5 p.m. October 5, 2007. Entries will be judged on how well they covered the workings of the Congress as a whole, or helped illuminate the actions of elected officials or congressional staff, or describe the workings of congressional policies. The work must have been published or broadcast in Sept. 1, 2006 – Sept. 1, 2007.

    Applicants must submit six complete packets to the Foundation. Each packet must contain the following: 1. Entry form (download), 2. Three journalistic pieces focused on coverage of the U.S. Congress, 3. Support letter from an editor or supervisor, and 4. a brief bio.
