Could You Be America’s Next Talking Head?

The above graphic is by Walt Taylor. His blog: http://crackskullbob.squarespace.com

Can you argue over absolutely nothing at dinner? More urgently, you think you have the chops to argue with the likes of the right-wing Ann Coulter or CNN political contributor Paul Begala?

WaPo has a nifty new contest in the works. But it won’t be easy. You must make your case, and subject yourself to “catcalls” and “criticism” from WaPo personalities. All that after submitting a 400-word opinion essay along with a 100-word essay on yourself and why you should win.

Entry deadline: Oct. 1.

What do you actually win? More details after the jump…

Editors will choose their top 50, a field that will narrow to 1o. Finalists will devote at least eight hours a week to writing on deadline, being videotaped and answering questions from WaPo readers. A panel of WaPo personalities, in conjunction with reader input, will choose a winner.
The winner signs a three-month contract with WaPo that involves writing weekly columns and possible TV appearances – and of course, the champ gets that impressive title, “America’s Next Great Pundit.”
