D.C. Gets New Morning Radio Show

Debuting this morning is a new morning drive time classic rock radio show on 105.9 FM The Edge. The duo is Kirk McEwen and Mike O’Meara. (They form the Kirk & Mike Show. Don was one-half of the “Don & Mike” show.) The show airs 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. weekdays. Veteran radio producer Jeff Shamrock will honcho the show.

Covering the debut this morning were ABC 7 (in studio this morning), FOX 5 and Angie Goff from WUSA9.

Fans will celebrate today at The Green Turtle at the Verizon Center in Chinatown at noon — the first 105 listeners get free lunch.

Kirk McEwen, a Washington and Baltimore rock radio vet moves from his afternoon drive time slot on The EDGE to his new spot in morning drive. Kirk spent 10 years as part of the morning show at WIYY, 98 ROCK. “In a city known for its monuments, this is monumental! I couldnÂ’t be more amped,” said McEwen.

Mike O’Meara has been a radio personality in the D.C. area and was one half of the legendary “Don & Mike Show.” Mike’s familiar voice and humor will return this morning as part of the Kirk McEwen & Mike O’Meara Morning Show. “For the first time in my career, my favorite music will be on the same station with my favorite personality, me,” said O’Meara.
