Earlier on FishbowlDC: “ABC News Producer Arrested in Denver”
We’ve learned that ABC News’ associate producer Asa Eslocker has been advised by his lawyers not to speak about the events of yesterday, when he was arrested for filming outside the Brown Palace Hotel.
We’ve also learned that the hotel today admitted that, no, they don’t own the sidewalk, thereby making their arrest of Eslocker all the more suspect.
A memo from Eslocker’s lawyers, as well as notes from the ACLU and Reporters Without Borders after the jump…
An internal Washington Times memo, obtained by FishbowlDC:
I am somewhat embarrassed to report that the shift to our new cafeteria vendor will in all probability be delayed until next Tuesday (the day after Labor Day), and conceivably could be a day or two after that. I could cite a litany of illnesses, insurance hang-ups, sudden differences over every jot and tittle, blah, blah, blah, but the bottom line is that the contract with the caterer is not the “done deal” that it appeared to be. Thus, both an announcement of the caterer and its moving into the cafeteria are premature. I hope it is a matter of a day, if not hours. I sincerely apologize.
Thus, as of this moment, please do not count on the cafeteria being open Friday. Brown-bag it, use vending machines, go out, or diet. I will of course let you know if there is any change. The new caterer is prepared to come in over the weekend and be running by Tuesday if (there’s always an if) we get the contract settled and signed before then. Again, my apology for this.

Earlier today, ABC News producer Asa Eslocker was arrested in Denver while taking pictures outside the Brown Palace Hotel. From ABC News:
Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic Senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.
Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer, Asa Eslocker, who works with the ABC News investigative unit.
During the arrest, one of the officers can be heard saying to Eslocker, “You’re lucky I didn’t knock the f..k out of you.”
Eslocker was released late today after posting $500 bond.
