Bedard’s honey harvest is known as “Hubba Hubba Honey” and this year’s bounty is ready for the buy. Paul says “after a somewhat tough year of beekeeping,” he and Michele “have bottled a very nice summer vintage of medium-colored honey with the trademark citrus finish.”

Booyakasha!: Gibbs responded to questions about Dick Cheney’s Sunday Fox News appearance by calling the former VP’s comments the “same song and dance” from the early days of the Obama WH. (Anyone else really want to know what that song and dance would look like?) Cheney “clearly had his facts on a number of things wrong,” RG said, noting that the detainee review group (HIG) and not the WH will make decisions on the issue. RG added that former Bush-era DHS Secy Fran Townsend has applauded the group’s formation, Sen. John McCain’s remarks on interrogation have been “tremendously illuminating,” and Cheney’s track record on foreign policy “hasn’t borne a whole lot of fruit.” When Helen Thomas pressed for answers on reported continuation of “black sites” for interrogation, Gibbs denied that detainees were being tortured, and then carefully noted that detainees were sent to other countries to be tried where they violated laws but “not shipped in the dark of night to be tortured.”

The Boston Globe printed an editorial Friday supporting appointing an interim replacement to Senator Kennedy’s vacant seat. The paper writes: “There is no mourning period when it comes to ensuring adequate representation for Massachusetts residents in the US Senate. Important votes on health care and climate change draw near. Surely the governor can find a temporary replacement whose views are consistent with those of Kennedy and the Massachusetts voters who kept faith with him since 1962.”

And on a lighter note, WUSA sports anchor Brett Haber will be penning a sports column for USA Today.

Freedom Communications, Inc., which owns the Orange County Register is expected to declare bankruptcy this week and news layoffs are apparently imminent at the San Francisco Chronicle.

CBS’ Bob Schieffer already knows what he’s doing May 21st, 2010… giving a commencement speech at the Rochester Institute of Technology in NY. The school year is only just starting and commencement seems far off, but the school must be proud- they’ve already sent out the press release.

A new “encyclopedia of journalism” is being released under the direction of GWU School of Media and Public Affairs professor Christopher Sterling. The encyclopedia will be a six-volume set of books covering print, broadcast, Internet journalism, U.S. and international perspectives, history, technology, legal issues and court cases, and ownership and economics.

A brunette Jenna Bush Hager will be joining the “Today Show” and working as a correspondent out of NBC’s Washington bureau, the AP reports.

She’ll contribute education stories about once a month and her first piece should air some time in September. Jenna’s 27 now, living in Baltimore and working as a teacher.

“Today” executive producer Jim Bell apparently approached the former first daughter with the idea after a few appearances on the show to promote her book “Ana’s Story: A Journey of Hope.”

“I think she can handle it,” Bell said in an interview with AP’s David Bauder. “I think she knows something about pressure and being under some scrutiny. When she came here for a handful of appearances, she knocked it out of the park.”

Jenna won’t be covering politics or talking about her experiences in the White House. “I don’t think it’s that interesting,” she said in this AP article. “I’m pretty normal.”

The Shriver interview will air in its entirety tomorrow. FBDC has these excerpts for now:

Shriver: I think both of them (Ted Kennedy and Eunice Shriver) are incredible testaments to how long it takes– how hard one has to work to accomplish something. And I think we’ve lost sight of that in this country in all professions, whether it be journalism or politics. People expect you to get elected president and solve all the problems immediately. And I think if they look at people like Teddy or like Mummy, they see how long they had to stay in there and keep hammering away and hammering away. And I think that that gives us hope– when people get disillusioned that they didn’t get something done right away. If you look at people like that and say, “Wow– they accomplished a lot but it took a long time.”

And:

Gregory: What was that final year like for him?

Shriver: Well, I think it was, for me, watching this final year was– beautiful. Because I think– you know, there have been a lotta things written about Teddy over the years. And it hasn’t all been complimentary. And I think– for someone to have that kind of love come at you is a very powerful thing that very few people I think ever experience in their lifetime.
