Hillary Clinton Responds to Criticisms by Jill Abramson on Media Expectations

logo2During an interview with guest host John Harwood on NPR’s “On Point,” Hillary Clinton admitted that she might expect more than she should from her relationships with members of the media.

Clinton’s comments were made in response to criticism by Jill Abramson in a POLITICO Magazine piece in which the former New York Times editor said, “Hillary is incredibly unrealistic about journalists…She expects you to be 100 percent in her corner, especially women journalists. She got angry with me because when I became the top-ranking woman at the New York Times, she thought I should be loyal. An editor is going to be independent, always.”

Abramson’s comments were made more than two months after the media blitz surrounding the release of Hard Choices began, first with a taped television interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer, a live interview with Robin Roberts for “Good Morning America,” a joint interview by Fox News’ Bret Baier and Greta Van Susteren, and a slew of other interviews, conversations, town halls, and book signings in Washington and throughout the country. Members of Congress Pitch Their Town as Host for DNC Convention

As the Democratic National Committee is making site visits to potential host cities for the 2016 Democratic National Convention, The Washington Post’s Jackie Kucinich visited Capitol Hill to hear from several Members from finalist cities on why their town should be chosen.

Philadelphia’s Rep. Robert Brady (D-PA) entices with the “real” Philadelphia cheesesteak. Brooklyn’s Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-NY) touts the new Manhattan as the home of Jay-Z. Birmingham’s Rep. Terri Sewell promotes that “magical things happen” in her town. And Phoenix’s Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) promises that everyday in Phoenix is a great hair day.

Also in the running as host city for the Democratic National Convention: Columbus (Ohio) and Cleveland, which was selected earlier this month as host city for the 2016 Republican National Convention. Philadelphia, Chicago and Miami have all hosted both conventions in the same year, most recently being Miami in 1972.

NBC Sources Tell Daily Beast’s Lloyd Grove ‘Gregory is Toast’

Gregory_1.22Yesterday, the New York Post’s “Page Six” reported that David Gregory‘s tenure as host of NBC’s “Meet the Press” may soon be coming to an end.

The Daily Beast’s Lloyd Grove wrote in a follow-up piece that, “In multiple conversations that I had with people inside and outside NBC after the item appeared, it was taken as a given that Gregory is toast.”

Grove’s analysis differs dramatically compared to what an NBC spokesperson told “Page Six’s” Emily Smith Tuesday night, saying, “We heard the same false rumors and suggest you take them with a grain of salt, as we did.” Read more
