DC Magazine Changes

Kate Ancieri, the features editor of DC magazine, has left the magazine after her husband took a job as a counselor at Harvard in Cambridge.

The magazine has hired George Stone, a former National Geographic Traveler staff writer and freelance writer. “He’s covered the hottest kitchens and coolest night spots in DC for eight years,” DC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Karen Sommer Shalett tells FishbowlDC. “His food and travel background is priceless to us.”

They’ve also hired Kate Roseblatt as a senior editor. She starts April 30. “Hailing from a former spot at FHM magazine in Manhattan,
she’ll be our stiletto-ed feet on the street,” Shalett says. “Kate has covered DC and Baltimore for several years and she’ll be popping up everywhere from the best boutiques to the chicest cocktail parties. A reporter at heart, she’s a trend-spotter with an eye for finds like the bracelets boy about town Omar Popal designed for his wait staff at Cafe Bonaparte and the most au currant accoutrements for the home.”

Associate Editor Rebecca Heslin will also take a bigger lead on DC Magazine’s social coverage and local fashion.
