Did WaPo Series Lead to Arrest in Chandra Levy Case?

It’s quite possible. Last summer’s somewhat controversial 13-part series by Sari Horowitz and Scott Higham named Ingmar Guandique as the possible killer of Chandra Levy. They interviewed Guandique for the series and were the first to interview the two women previously attacked by him.

They report this weekend that the coverage of the Levy case has ramped up in recent months and that since the end of last summer, DC detectives and prosecutors have been building a case against Guandique.

Levy’s father even told the paper, “The Post series really helped the police, because it brought new things out.”

Poynter takes a look at WaPo’s involvement in that arrest here.
