Do As We Say…

…not as we do.

Readers of the Washington Times’ editorial page may recall them slamming those who were shying away from saying “Merry Christmas.” They featured a front page story on Nov. 29 that glowingly reported on House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s demand to federal officials that the name of the tree on the U.S. Capitol’s West Lawn be changed from “Holiday Tree” to “Capitol Christmas Tree.”

So, it would naturally follow that the Washington Times would send out holiday Christmas cards that said, well, “Merry Christmas.”

Not so much. The cover art for their card is a snowman in front of Capitol with a stars and stripes top hat and a scarf. The snowman is reading a copy of Washington Times that features the headline “Peace on Earth.”

Your friends at The Washington Times wish you good news for peace on earth from your bolder & brighter newspaper. God Bless you and your family this holiday season.
