The holiday spirit is in the air! Everywhere you go, there are Christmas lights on every corner. Holiday carols dance through the stores while you shop. But, most importantly, you know it’ s Christmas because everyone is talking about going to amusement parks. Oh, you don’t associate amusement park travel with the holidays? Well, then you must not be on the receiving end of our latest Dumbass Pitch. We get so many emails pitching various products and people that we can’t keep track of them all. But instead of just deleting them, we like to share the dumbest ones with you.
Today, we got a Dumbass Pitch from Pete Trabucco. He is an “Amusement Park, Travel and Aviation Expert and Author of “America’s Top Roller Coasters and Parks.” Pete is here to pitch himself as an expert on the “Top Holiday Amusement Parks.” Believe it or not, I like amusement parks that are well-done. I used to work at Disney World. One thing I NEVER equate with the holidays, is visiting one of these parks.
Trabucco even gives us his Top Ten list of Parks to visit…
The #1 park to visit is Walt Disney World. Fine. I sort of get that. You don’t have to worry about the snow in Florida. But, others on the list make no sense. #4 on the list is Hershey Park in Hershey, PA. I once spent a few days in Hershey, PA in December and it was freezing cold with snow on the ground. Why the hell would I want to go to an amusement park when there’s snow on the ground? Just imagine trying to contain kids in a place like that. “Hey, Mommy! Is that Santa Claus with the bright red cheeks and nose?” “No, son.. That’s your father with a very serious windburn on his face after going on the carousel.”
When it’s Christmas time, we’ll go look at lights and wrap presents, but hopping on the Vomit Comet isn’t something that I have on my agenda. That’s just one of the many reasons why this is a Dumbass Pitch.
