Party Photos: David Bradley Fetes Gwen Ifill
Washington's journo set headed to the home of David Bradley (Atlantic Media Company owner) last night for a book party honoring PBS' Gwen Ifill and her book, "The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama." "People don't believe that timing is everything, but timing is everything," said Ifill, referring to the merging of her book ambitions and the election of America's first African-American president. She said that publishers were initially hesitant to embrace her idea. "It was 'A black president? Yeah, whatever...'" Ifill also addressed the minor controversy that emerged when news of her book first broke, criticizing those "who thought they knew what was in the book before it was even out." "I knew that the truth will out. I knew I would survive it and I did."
