Farewell, Josh

From Playbook:

Good Monday morning. The president is in Crawford and the White House press corps is bunking at the hotels in Waco. After nearly seven years of business from the White House press corps, the marquee at Katie’s Custard says, ‘We Will Miss You Josh Deckard - ‘Shortcake’ – Good Luck To You!’ After countless strawberry-shortcake sundaes (they don’t have French-fry sundaes), the assistant White House press secretary is headed out to seek his fortune at the end of this week. Deckard is one of the last who’s been along for the whole ride, starting as a bag boy for Bush-Cheney ’00, graduating to the chief of staff’s office and finally becoming a cornerstone of the press office. Now no one in the White House will sign their e-mails, ‘Blessings.’
