The time has come…
After over three years at both FishbowlDC and at the Washington Examiner, I have the bittersweet news that I’m leaving both publications to join the Politico (I know, how unoriginal…), where I will be spearheading and hosting several online features: Video interviews, features, event coverage and Politico podcasts.
If you’re interested in being part of FishbowlDC, click here. If you’re interested in the Examiner’s Yeas & Nays column, send an email to this address. I’ll remain with the Examiner and FishbowlDC until January 30 and will then begin across the river at Politico HQ.
As for you and I, loyal readers: Thanks for everything…for your eyeballs, your tips, your humor, your patience and your support. My jobs at both the Examiner and here at FishbowlDC were my first full-time ventures in journalism and I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction and experience.
I hope that we’ll continue to bump into each other online at Politico.com and, as always, you can reach me at email@example.com
>UPDATE: Politico announcement after the jump…
We have finally found a way to stop all those leaks to Patrick Gavin over at FishbowlDC — we’re bringing him to Politico. Gavin, of course, needs no introduction for most Politicos because you already know him, hang out with him, bump into him at parties or read his media and gossip scoops at Fishbowl or the Examiner. We think this is quite a coup.
It is no secret we want to dominate coverage of media and political gossip on Capitol Hill and around the town. Anne and Calderone are doing a damn good job of it already. Gavin’s new role will complement their work.
He will be doing most of his work with a video camera, turning it on this city’s most influential and famous politicos. He will hit the big parties, the green rooms and Capitol Hill for a mix of fun and serious looks at the people who matter most in politics and media. He will continue to do some writing, too. Gavin is a smart, entrepreneurial guy who has made himself essential reading to all of us. We are eager to watch him work his magic at Politico.
This memo will be leaked to Fishbowl, and we will have no idea how it appeared there.
