Evan Glass (D- Silver Spring), a former producer for CNN, has officially tossed his hat in the ring for the 5th district seat of the Montgomery County Council. The district covers Silver Spring, Takoma Park, Burtonsville, White Oak and Colesville, and Glass is currently the only candidate to announce his intention to run. The incumbent, Valerie Ervin (D-Silver Spring), has yet to divulge her plans.
Glass refers to himself as a “recovering journalist” on his Twitter page, and according to his LinkedIn profile, he currently works at Community Communications, a firm providing communications consulting to non-profits and local governments. Glass worked at CNN for 11 years as a Congressional producer and also served as a travelling producer for the 2008 presidential campaigns.
