From Sammon’s email: “He poses tough questions to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, but also finds time to chat her up on Beatles trivia.”
Check out that email announcement, in which Sammon also calls Rosen an “expert on Nixon, Watergate and pretty much everything from the Vietnam era,” after the jump…
James Rosen named State Department Correspondent
Yes, he’s an expert on Nixon, Watergate and pretty much everything from the Vietnam era. But James Rosen has also demonstrated an impressive command of current foreign policy, whether it be the big picture in Iraq and Afghanistan or the small but significant distinction between uranium and plutonium, at least in the context of North Korea’s nuclear ambitions.
James has also shown a knack for working State Department sources, ranging from the Latin America expert he buttonholed in the salad bar line at State’s cafeteria (who confirmed that the administration would soon relax Cuba travel rules), to landing an exclusive interview with U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice (to whom James had sent William F. Buckley’s 1974 memoir of his brief stint as a U.N. delegate). He poses tough questions to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, but also finds time to chat her up on Beatles trivia.
James covered the White House for five years under Presidents Clinton and George W. Bush, and covered State under Condoleezza Rice. All of which make it my pleasure to announce that James Rosen is Fox News Channel’s State Department Correspondent, effective immediately. Please join me in congratulating James on this well-deserved position.
