Friends in High Places

oliphant.jpg The Hill’s “Under the Dome” column today has word that the Boston Globe’s Washington columnist, Tom Oliphant, is recovering from surgery following a brain aneurysm last week.

The Hill reports that when Oliphant’s home state senator Ted Kennedy, a longtime friend, heard about the columnist, he called his health policy staff and told them to find the best medical care for him they could. Oliphant, though, was already on his way to the Fairfax’s well-respected Inova Hospital.

Oliphant, by the way, is the husband of Emmy Award-winning CBS News correspondent Susan Spencer of 48 Hours fame.
