Good and the Bad

A mixed bag of news this week for ABCNews. On the plus side Steve Jones, it’s veep of ABC News Radio, won the industry highest award (News Radio Executive of the Year) at the annual Radio and Records News/Talk Industry Achievement Awards.

On the down side, its Sunday morning TV offering, “This Week,” continues to falter. After a strong showing with the Governator at the end of February, “This Week” again fell behind “Fox News Sunday” in its own host’s home town. The Nielsen ratings for last Sunday in D.C. show FNC with a 1.5 rating, beating ABC’s 1.3 rating. Both CBS and NBC ended up with a 4.0.

This Sunday we’ll see George Stephanopoulos with Donald Rumsfeld, John McCain and Sinn Fein’s Jerry Adams. FNC will have Rumsfeld as well, while Schieffer will “Face” Joint Chiefs Chair Richard Myers and VA Rep. Tom Davis. Russert will “Meet” with Myers.
