Greg Kelly: The FishbowlDC Interview

kellycasual.JPGSay hello to Greg Kelly, a White House Correspondent for Fox News Channel.

How many suits do you own? About a dozen, a few are camouflage and two flight suits

What word do you routinely misspell? Fallujah, and the name of any Iraqi Prime Minister

Did you see Brokeback Mountain? like the President, “hadn’t seen it.”

Did you see The Da Vinci Code? Saw it? I cracked it.

What’s the name of your cell phone ring? my brother found it amusing to call during my tv appearances, so I switched to Vibrate

What time did you get up this morning? The time varies, the method doesn’t. I need the cell phone alarm, clock radio alarm, free standing clock alarm, and arrange for two wake up calls, sometimes from my Mom. Elaborate, but I’m never late.

When did you last cry and why? Surviving a plane crash in 1999

Which of the seven deadly sins are you? as victor in several competitive eating contests (donuts, wings, White Castle hamburgers): gluttony

Beach, city or country? City. But there should be a Fresh Air Fund for adults.

Would you say you’re cute? Pretty? Hot? Beautiful? Yes

What color is your bathroom? the light has been broken in there for a long time…but beige. I think.

How many emails do you receive a day, roughly? About a hundred somewhat friendly emails, only somewhat

What’s your opinion of New York City? The greatest city on earth–and the best protected.

What’s your favorite letter? I reviewed the alphabet. Nothing evoked passion.

What single person played the biggest role / had the biggest influence on your journalism career? Mr. Roger Ailes. A genius, despite hiring me.

Have you ever downloaded a podcast? If so, which one? News Hour with Jim Lehrer. It airs at the same time as The Simpsons…and
Tivo, maddeningly, can’t do what 1970s era VCRs could do, allow you to watch something on one channel while recording another. Just so you know.

Who’s your all-time favorite American Idol candidate? That guy who cursed out Simon during auditions. Great TV.

When’s the last time you volunteered? Where? Last month at Bethesda Naval Hospital.

Who is your favorite journalist? Bob Woodruff of ABC. Masterful storyteller and all round great guy.

What did you have for breakfast? 2 bowls of Count Chocula—from the popular death-themed General Mills cereal line

What’s your favorite item of clothing? Brioni neckties

What one toiletry item could you not live without? I actually don’t mind doing without them altogether.

If you could have one superpower, which one would it be? Aquaman’s telepathic ability to communicate with fish

Better role model: GIJoe? Barbie? GI Joe, pre-1970. After that, he became something of a mercenary

Each FishbowlDC Interview subject is asked to contribute a word to this ongoing thread. Thus far we have…”Leprechaun suits shimmer Sensenbrennerly. Never regurgitate, orginate! Ideally, chutzpah feathers one’s soul melodically. Rhythmically, supergalifragilistic sounds baroque indeed nefarious but Springsteen defenestrates only stumblebums…” vote.
