Dear Greta, I was thinking about that the other day. I swear. I was like, why, like, how did this happen, like why isn’t there like another thing like this because there’s got to be lots of blended families that are crazy.
The above is an actual like real quote from Kourtney Kardashian, a guest on FNC’s Greta Van Susteren‘s “On the Record” program last night along with sisters, Kim and Khloe. The trio came to discuss their new book, Kardashian Konfidential.
Van Susteren isn’t a newbie when it comes to the Kardashians. She got to know the Kardashian daughters’ father as a CNN legal analyst during the O.J. Simpson murder trial. Robert Kardashian was on Simpson’s defense team. Greta invited Kim to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner as her date in June, bringing all those big butt argument memories rushing back. At the time, Greta was really protective of the gossipy chatter surrounding her date at WHCD parties. She was seemingly unaware of Kim’s rise to fame, which involved a sex tape followed by more recent sexy and sultry Carl’s Jr. and Quick Trim ads. And all that talk about her big butt.
Van Susteren keeps the interview classy. “People think they know a lot about you because of the reality show, but it’s a lot different isn’t it?” she asks. Kim: They take bits and pieces of each of our lives, and make characters of us. There is a lot more to us.
Greta doesn’t hold back. “Did you grow up spoiled?” she asks the girls.
Kourtney: Yes and no. Khloe: We’re spoiled, we’re just not brats. Kim: But it [money] wasn’t given without some kind of work to get that prize. Kourtney (again): I remember even at my Sweet 16 I remember my mom sent me an invitation to my Sweet 16 in the mail…I feel bad because don’t want a Sweet 16 and a car because my friends got one or the other and my mom was like, I want you to have both.
Greta recalled sweet WHCD memories, saying, “When Kim joined us at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, there was no big Hollywood entourage. I think everybody in Washington was surprised.” Kim concurred: “A lot of the people I hang out with are always shocked. When they invite me to come to dinner and I come by myself. They assume I would have had a big entourage. My sisters are not with me. I come by myself.”
The host then inquired about their fame. “Why you three? There are lots of sisters.”
This prompted Kourtney’s above like fantastic quote at the top.
Greta jokingly complained…
that the sisters forgot to name her program on their favorite TV show list in their book. “Gretahhh! Gretahhh!” Kourtney cooed. “Of course I’m just kidding with you,” Greta replied.
Van Susteren, who has a strict policy of reading every book before an author can even come onto her show, knows a good “get” when she sees it. “I love all my little tweeps,” chirped Kim in baby voice, explaining that she and Khloe are planning to give up all Social Media (Twitter, blogging, etc.) until they raise $1 mil for charity.
Van Susteren told FishbowlDC that she did read Kardashian Konfidential and learned more than she previously knew about the girls. “I knew their father via the O.J. trial and while I probably vaguely knew he had children at the time, I did not realize how serious a father he was,” she said. “These three women sure loved their father.” She also got a sense of the sisters as fierce businesswomen who sell perfume and clothing.
The only part of last night’s “On the Record” that came close to competing with the K sisters was the Baby Cheetah segment. The cheetah nearly got a full rubdown on camera…
Greta didn’t perform the rubdown, that was a zookeeper. She explained on air, “The San Diego Zoo has a new resident and he’s laaaazzy. Sleeping between 20 and 22 horus a day. Now, in fairness, this guy has an excuse, he’s a baby cheetah and he’s 15 days old. Baby Cheetah purred the day he was born and he loves to eat. The newborn’s mother apparently showed signs of abandoning him so zookeepers put him in a nursey to hand raise him.”
Greta taunted, “Admit it you would love the job of hand raising him.”
We’ll leave that one alone.
