Headline War Revisited: Who Was Right?

Yesterday, we posted totally dueling headlines from the NYT and WaPo about the G-8 climate change deal.

WaPo‘s headline read: “G-8 Leaders Reach Climate Deal”

NYT‘s headline read: “G-8 Nations Fail to Agree on Plan to Fight Climate Change”

It seems to me that this is a case of “glass half empty or glass half full.” Peter Baker‘s piece for the NYT‘s approached the story by highlighting what the G-8 nations set out to accomplish but couldn’t. WaPo‘s Craig Whitlock and Michael Fletcher led with the fact that there was “a deal.”

Now we want you to weigh in. They are arguably both accurate headlines and stories but how should this story have been reported/headlined?
