CBS “Face the Nation” Host Bob Schieffer announces the news this afternoon that Rob Hendin is joining the team. He was previously a White House producer.

“This is truly a case of promoting from within,” Schieffer wrote in an email dispatch to staff with the subject line, “Some good news at Face.”

I am proud to tell everyone that Rob Hendin is joining Carin Pratt, Mary Hager and Kaylee Hartung on the Face the Nation team. Rob has done a great job as White House producer and knows Washington and CBS News well. This is truly a case of promoting from within. Rob started as at intern with CBS News in 1997 and has never worked anywhere else. As he has climbed the ladder here he has become a terrific reporter, editor and producer and more important, someone that has developed a keen and deep understanding of politics that only comes from chasing down stories and talking to the politicians face to face. He is also a member of my rotisserie baseball league and is said to be a fine cook. Please join me in welcoming Rob to the Face the Nation team. Bob
