Post Ombudsman Deborah Howell said that she had learned her lesson with MediaMatters.org and would not respond directly to them from now on, but her post this morning is certainly a response to the swarm of complaints she’s gotten for her column this past weekend.
Turns out that Howard Kurtz gets it right yet again. He said that Howell’s column “was inartfully worded.” Howell concedes as much in her post:
I’ve heard from lots of angry readers about the remark in my column Sunday that lobbyist Jack Abramoff gave money to both parties. A better way to have said it would be that Abramoff “directed” contributions to both parties.
