Howell: “We’re Not Here To Be Loved”
From an internal posting by Washington Post ombudsman Deb Howell, obtained by FishbowlDC:
My column for Jan. 6 is going to say that though while I cringe at venomous e-mail and comments and I take my share every week, that I think it’s time for us to ignore them. They’re not going away and it takes too much emotional energy to fret over them. We’re not here to be loved. I quote a couple of staff members (Farhi and Fisher) who say they’re not bothered by them. I mention that many staffers dislike them intensely and don’t read them. I’m looking for someone to quote on the record about that. Any takers? Please reply in e-mail, which I will be checking while I’m out of town from this afternoon to Jan. 3. I’ll be happy to show you the column pre-publication as well. HOWELLD 12/28/2007 10:38:28 AM
