One more has flown the coop at the conservative Human Events.
“I have accepted a position with Clarity’s DC Media Group as Chief Revenue Officer,” Joe Guerriero, former V.P. Group Publisher at Human Events, wrote to FishbowlDC Wednesday. “I am extremely excited about the opportunity.”
Human Events recently closed down its weekly print product, with management laying off scores of staffers. It now exists as strictly an online publication with about three people running its editorial department. Its parent company is Eagle Publishing.
“Leaving Eagle was difficult,” Guerriero said, “but this was an opportunity I just could not pass up.” Clarity Media Group is… the publisher of the Examiner newspapers in Washington, D.C., (which also recently announced it would cease producing its daily print edition) and San Francisco. It also runs the Examiner.com local news sites and the conservative Weekly Standard.
Guerriero joined Eagle in Aug. 2009. He leaves at the end of April.
“Guerriero is a very talented executive who would be a tremendous asset for any organization,” said Jeff Carneal, president of Eagle Publishing.” “We’re sad to see him go but from what Joe’s told me, Clarity will be a very good opportunity for him.”
Carneal said a “highly qualified” replacement for Joe has already been found and they’re in “final discussions” to seal the deal.
