Ifill Crushes Contestant’s “Millionaire” Dreams

Regis Philbin called it a question right down her alley, but Gwen Ifill was no help for “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” contestant Jennifer when she called on the PBS correspondent using an “Ask An Expert” lifeline.

The $1,000 question: “When Richard Nixon wrote his famous letter, ‘I hereby resign the Office of the President of the United States,’ he addressed it to whom?” And the choices: Henry Kissinger, Gerald Ford, Tip O’Neill, Alexander Haig.

Ifill picked Tip O’Neill, but the correct answer was Henry Kissinger. She seemed very apologetic, mouthing “sorry” as Jennifer walked off with just 1,000 bucks.

Clip’s about 4 minutes in.
