In Memoriam: Sue Newton Small

Time‘s Jay Newton Small, an incredible reporter and friend of FishbowlDC, lost her mother suddenly on March 13, 2011.

“She was in her element, hosting a dinner party for 14 when a massive aneurism hit. She felt no pain and had time for no fear. She died in the arms of her friends. In death she gave the gift of life to three others through organ donations and helped another 300 people in need with her tissue and bones,” Jay explained in an email.

Friends and family will celebrate Sue Newton Small‘s life at a memorial service on Friday, March 25, 2011 at Naples United Church of Christ in Naples, FL. To learn more about the woman responsible for raising one of Washington’s finest journalists, read her obituary in Naples Daily News here.  Our hearts and prayers go out to Jay and her family.
